Over the past year, I’ve been a loyal user of Writesonic, basically drawn in by its innovative features and seamless integration of Google results within Chatsonic—a feature that’s proven invaluable for my research needs.
Even though I initially liked this feature, I’ve found that it has a lot of other benefits, such as the ability to use the Superior (ChatGPT 4.0) version across all content types. My experience with Writesonic has been great, from the latest AI Writer – Article 6.0 to writing social media bits or website copy.
While I primarily utilize a select few content types, such as Chatsonic and Article Writer 6.0 and 5.0, I’ve been continually impressed by Writesonic’s regular updates introducing new and useful features. From the recent additions of an SEO analyzer and integrated plagiarism checker to the introduction of Botsonic, each update has further enhanced the writing experience, making it both efficient and effective.
However, before I renewed my subscription, I explored alternative AI writing platforms to ensure I was making the most informed decision. During my comparison, I stumbled upon Jasper, a platform that offers a 7-day free trial and boasts features strikingly similar to those of Writesonic.
And yes, I do have a winner. But let’s first have a deeper look at both the tools:

Tech Behind the Tools
Jasper and Writesonic leverage OpenAI’s language models, namely GPT-3 and GPT-3.5, which have been trained on vast datasets, enabling them to produce human-like text swiftly. However, the variance in output quality stems from how these companies fine-tune these models.
GPT-4, the latest version of GPT released by Open AI is integrated into both Jasper and Writesonic’s AI engines, improving content accuracy and human-like sound.
One notable distinction between Jasper and Writesonic lies in how they handle the integration of GPT-4. Writesonic offers users a unique level of control over the choice of AI model. Within its user-friendly interface, Writesonic allows individuals to specifically opt for GPT-3.5, GPT-4, or the upcoming GPT-4+. This granularity empowers users to tailor their experience based on the nuances of each AI model. While chatting with Chatsonic, users can also choose to integrate with Google results for more updated results.
Writesonic
Here is a look at the GPT selection offered by Writesonic depending on the plan:
In contrast, Jasper adopts an automated approach, wherein the tool independently selects the AI model it deems most suitable for a given project. This means that users may benefit from the improved capabilities of GPT-4 without needing to manually select it.
Jasper AI
Jasper’s announcement regarding the integration of GPT4 into their tool:
Writesonic’s emphasis on user agency is evident in its interface, where users can actively choose their preferred AI model. This transparency and user control not only enhance customization but also contribute to a more interactive and adaptable writing experience.
On the other hand, Jasper’s decision to automate the model selection process aligns with its commitment to simplicity. The tool aims to minimize user input and provide a seamless experience, trusting its algorithm to choose the most suitable AI model for the task at hand.

Writesonic is more user-friendly
Writesonic and Jasper both provide user-friendly experiences, but Writesonic’s intuitive workflow makes it particularly appealing for beginners. Upon logging into Writesonic, you’re immediately greeted with neatly organized templates grouped into categories, streamlining the content creation process.
They have been constantly improving the look of their dashboard over the last year, and it gets better with every update.
Look at their current dashboard:
The Writesonic dashboard offers a straightforward starting point, allowing you to select a template, input necessary details, and generate content effortlessly. The Article Writer 5.0, 4.0 and 3.0, as well as the latest version, 6.0, are all extremely straightforward. This hands-free approach is particularly advantageous for individuals who are exploring generative AI or who may lack the skills to craft precise prompts.
For instance, consider the scenario of wanting to create a long-form article. Writesonic’s “AI article writer 5.0” template simplifies the process—input your topic and keywords or enter reference links, and the tool generates an SEO-friendly blog. You can add keywords, give instructions, and also choose a ‘Brand Voice’ before the magic happens.
Look at the Article Writer 6.0 interface:
Jasper AI
In contrast, Jasper presents a more intricate process. I found it a bit more overwhelming than Writesonic because you don’t see the templates right away.
When you do find the option to choose a template to begin writing, the blog category reveals templates for sections like introduction, topic, and conclusion. While some writers may appreciate the granular control Jasper offers, it can be overwhelming for newcomers attempting to generate an entire article from scratch.
To create a full article on Jasper, you navigate to the dashboard, click on “Create new content,” and then select “New document.” This opens a blank page akin to Google Docs, offering three modes:
- Focus mode for co-writing with Jasper.
- Chat mode, transforming Jasper into a conversational chatbot.
- Power mode, featuring templates (workflows) for different content types.
Jasper’s Power mode displays the workflow for crafting a blog post. Although the workflow may initially be confusing, Jasper’s structured input fields, such as “Audience,” result in more relevant outputs, encouraging a comprehensive approach.
While Jasper provides extensive options, Writesonic stands out as a quicker solution. If you’re seeking efficiency and a user-friendly experience without compromising on quality, Writesonic emerges as the more accessible and straightforward choice compared to Jasper’s more intricate approach.

Plagiarism Free Writing Test
I have been using Quetext as my plagiarism checker for about an year now and I find it better than Grammarly.
Anyhow, I created an empty template with Jasper and got it to write an article on Zapier. I had to keep clicking ‘Continue generation’ but we got a great looking Zapier blog.
Here is a look into the Jasper interface and my instructions:
Next, I used Article Writer 5.0 to also write a blog on Zapier without any additional instructions.
I tested the content generated with Quetext, adding both reports here for comparison to see how these two tools do with plagiarism.
On that note, although both Jasper and Writesonic offer integration for plagiarism, you have to buy credits with Jasper whereas Writesonic lets you run a check with your monthly credits within the writer.

Whether it’s utilizing a diverse range of templates or leveraging the Sonic editor for AI-assisted writing, Writesonic offers a versatile toolkit that empowers users to create content with precision and efficiency.
While Jasper AI boasts a detailed and comprehensive blog generation workflow, akin to Writesonic’s Article Writer 6.0, the overall value proposition falls short of justifying its price tag. Despite Jasper’s intricate workflow, the consensus remains that Writesonic provides a more user-friendly and effective platform for content creation.
